Eye for an eye

Palace of Arts, April 2025

Mariana Marinato is a visual artist and muralist. She lives in Belo Horizonte, where she graduated in Visual Arts from the Escola Livre de Arte - Arena da Cultura (2016-2018) and is currently studying Visual Arts at the Escola Guignard - Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais. Her research addresses the transitory nature of life and social dynamics, often exploring the intersections between time, territory and belonging.  The exhibition "olho por olho" brings together works that cross, in different media and techniques, the themes of surveillance, technology, memory and mystery. The artist explores the intense transits between the looks recorded in the paintings and the relationships she establishes between seeing, being seen, referencing one's own image, mirroring and returning the viewer's gaze.  Julia Maria and Júlio Martins  curators
